Former Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has revealed that he has still not been given an official explanation for his dismissal as Ghana head coach, admitting he remains puzzled by the decision months after leaving the role.
Speaking on the German football podcast Elf Freunde, Addo disclosed that despite serving as Ghana’s head coach for two years, he never sought clarification from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) after his departure.
According to him, the uncertainty surrounding his position was something he lived with throughout his time in charge of the national team.
“Honestly, I still haven’t been given a reason to this day—and honestly, I didn’t ask either. I was in Ghana for two years as coach. There was, of course, a lot of back-and-forth between me and our federation president, and the board too. It just felt like I could’ve been kicked out after just one month,” Addo said.
The former Ghana coach also suggested that the expectations placed on him by the leadership of the Football Association were exceptionally demanding, insisting he has never fully understood what ultimately led to his exit.
“I still, to this day, haven’t understood the reason—the expectations from our federation president were simply too high,” he added.
