Ghana’s Black Satellites, the national U20 side, failed to secure victory in their opening game of the WAFU Zone B encounter against Niger on Friday evening.
Heart of Lions midfielder Mustapha Yakubu scored from a free kick in the first half. Ghana was coasting to victory until the Nigeriens levelled up the scoring late in the game.
The results leave another dent in the performance of Ghana’s national teams at major tournaments. Ghana’s U23 side was eliminated from the Paris 2024 qualification series.
Ghana’s next game is scheduled for Monday, 10th July 2023 against Burkina Faso.
