Accra Hearts of Oak ended their two-game winless run by beating Bechem United 2-0 at the University of Ghana Stadium on Sunday evening, thanks to goals from Ransford Mensah and Hamza Issah.
The Rainbows had lost their first two opening games of the season, a 1-0 defeat to Basake Holy Stars and a 2-0 defeat to Heart of Lions.
Having failed to register a goal in the opening 45, Ransford Mensah scored a stunning freekick on the 52nd minute as Hearts of Oak took a big step in a bid to secure their first win of the season.
24 minutes later, Hamza Issah scored to double Hearts of Oak’s lead, registering his club’s first win of the season.
The attacker netted the second goal with a brilliant header from Stephen Appiah’s cross after dribbling past his marker.
Aboubakar Ouattara’s boys held firm to stop Bechem United and went on to pick the three maximum at home.
Hearts of Oak currently holds tenth place with 3 points from three games. Their next challenge is against Nation FC in Kumasi. The team’s performance against Bechem United has set a positive tone for their upcoming matches.
Bechem United, who rank fourteenth will host Dreams FC on week 4 of the Ghana Premier League.
