Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara responded firmly to his critics following his team’s 2-0 victory over Bechem United, marking their first win of the 2024-2025 Ghana Premier League season.
Speaking during the post-match press conference, Ouattara addressed the ongoing criticism regarding his player selections, stating that while people are free to voice their opinions, he retains the freedom to pick the players he believes are best for the team.
“I am a democrat. When you criticize me and it’s not an insult, I take some of it. The same way you have a free hand to criticize, I have a free hand to put the players I like in the team,” he remarked.
The win, held at the University of Ghana Stadium Hearts’ temporary home ground due to renovations at the Accra Sports Stadium provided much-needed relief for the coach.
Ouattara also called for unity among all Hearts of Oak stakeholders as the club looks to build momentum for the season.
Hearts of Oak will face Nations FC in their next fixture on Friday, September 27, where they hope to continue their winning form.
