Ghana forward Brandon Thomas-Asante expressed his satisfaction after playing a decisive role in the Black Stars’ dramatic 1-0 victory over Panama at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Introduced in the 57th minute in place of Kamaldeen Sulemana, the Coventry City striker provided the assist for Caleb Yirenkyi’s stoppage-time winner, helping Ghana secure all three points in their opening group match.
Reflecting on his contribution, the striker acknowledged the competition for places in the team and stressed the importance of being ready whenever called upon.
“I’d like to start every game, but I know that’s not how football works. Today, my job was to impact the game from the bench and I’m happy that I did that.”
His introduction brought fresh energy to Ghana’s attack, and his perfectly timed assist proved crucial as the Black Stars found a late breakthrough to seal victory over Panama.
Thomas-Asante’s performance has further highlighted the strength and depth within Carlos Queiroz’s squad as Ghana continue their World Cup campaign on a winning note.
