Top Ghanaian football administrator and owner of Division One League side New Edubiase United Football Club, Abdul Salam Yakubu has revealed the difficulties in the Division One League in Ghana.
According to the owner of the former GPL side, there are more difficulties in the Division One League than the Premiership per money issues.
Abdul Salam Yakubu’s side are struggling to make a return into the Ghana Premier League after being relegated.
The Division One League is divided into three zones (Zone 1, Zone 2 and Zone 3)
Abdul Salam’s side is part of the Zone 2 where Bibiani Gold Stars qualified for the GPL this season.
New Edubiase ended 5th on the table last season after the Division One League.
In an interview with the gaffer on ghanasportspage.com he revealed “In Edubiase everything is okay, everything is fine and we are preparing hard to return back into the premier league but in terms of money issues it is very difficult because we don’t have any headline sponsorship. We have the talent and the team that can compete in this season’s league. Our target is to return back into the Premiership.
“Playing in the Division One League is very difficult than the Premiership in terms of money.
“There are 30 matches to be payed including away matches but there’s no money in it. For the GPL is normal than the Division One.” He said.
