Kwame Opoku goes to Kumasi Asante Kotoko from a Division One club. He says Kotoko’s late legend, Opoku Afriyie, is his hero so like Opoku Afriyie, he should be called ‘Bayie’.
He also says he wants to make an impact in Kotoko like Opoku Afriyie. Thirteen (13) months down the line (part of which football was on a break because of the coronavirus pandemic) and less than 20 matches for Kotoko, he has been transferred to USM Algiers in Algeria.
Does Kwame Opoku know how many years Opoku Afriyie played for Kotoko, how many matches he played for Kotoko and Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, and how many goals he scored? Do these young players really know the history of Kotoko and Ghana football?
