The resumption of Ghana’s Premier League Matches has brought forth a clash between ex-lovers as Asante Kotoko storm the Techiman Nana Ameyaw Park in a deadly clash with Techiman Eleven Wonders
With a game in hand, Asante Kotoko occupies the 4th position and seeks to win against Wonders in Techiman, where they recently whipped King Faisal.
Wonders were too much to be handled as they took a point from Kotoko in the first round at Accra, resulting in a series of not too good performances which eventually sent Maxwell Konadu packing.
The Kotoko team see the favourable Techiman grounds as a place to teach Wonders a lesson but this ambition is said to be a dream, according to Techiman Eleven Wonders Coach Ignatious Osei Fosu who insists Wonders need the three points at stake more than Kotoko.
He is of course aiming to break Kotoko using Kotoko trained players and loyalists of the club including Amos Frimpong ,who captained Kotoko for several years until last two seasons. Amos is now a player of Wonders and know the Kotoko team inside out
Amos Wonders is relying on to defeat Kotoko ably supported by Ashittey Ollenu and goalkeeper Michael Abu, all colleagues of Amos at Kotoko just two seasons ago.
They are all with Wonders and aim to put lots of fear in the current Kotoko players, regarded as new and not scary as the previous players who left recently.
One of the fearless goal poachers to have graced the Ghanaian league and former GPL goal king Alex Asamoah is also lined up to pour more misery on his former club Asante Kotoko.
The Kotoko defence is the strongest in the league so far and has conceded minimum goals. Built around Black Stars defender Ismael Ganiu, Razak Abalora, Imoro Ibrahim, Christopher Nettey and Mubarak Abdul seems a mountain for the Wonders squad to breakthrough.
It remains to be seen if the four Kotoko “loyalists” will be stopped or allowed to punish their former club Kotoko.
