Nana Kwame Dankwah has thrown a stern cautions at Esme Mends to stop making unfavourable comments about Asante Kotoko CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah or risk leaking of his unseen actions to the public.
Nana Kwame Dankwah, First Vice Chairman of the National Circles Council (NCC) has suggested that Esme is bitter about the Asante Kotoko CEO because of his (Esme’s) failed move to Asante Kotoko when Nana Yaw Amponsah, now Kotoko CEO, was managing him during his playing days. The NCC Vice chairman also suggested that Esme Mends is jealous of the good things the former Ghana Football Association Presidential candidate is bringing to the Porcupine Warriors, a reason for his jibe at him.
He made these declarations in an interview with ghanasportspage.com, in response to an interview Esme had granted on the same platform expressing his disappointment over Amponsah’s appointment as CEO for a club which is “too big for people like” Amponsah. Esme, in the said interview, described Nana Yaw Amponsah as a “pretender”, and predicted he will certainly fail at Kotoko.
In the said earlier interview with ghanasportspage.com, Esme Mends revealed that his purported move to Asante Kotoko fell through after he had gone to spend one week in Kumasi to seal a move to Asante Kotoko. He confirmed that Nana Yaw Amponsah was then the agent who was managing him. Esme Mends did not openly blame Nana Yaw Amponsah for the colapse of the move to Kotoko but made reference to it to buttress how he had related to Nana Yaw Amponsah in the past which had before that interview, not been of much public knowledge. Esme quickly added in that interview that he doesn’t “regret” playing for Accra Hearts of Oak, but Nana Yaw believes Esme’s bitterness towards Amponsah is due to his failed move to Kotoko.
According to Nana Kwame Dankwah, he’s done his checks is well informed about what transpired between Nana Yaw and Esme Mends, and warns Esme to not to push Kotoko to disclose issue Esme might not want to be unvovered.
“He was then working with Nana Yaw, I have also cross checked, I know the things that went on between him and Nana Yaw”, Nana Kwame told ghanasportspage.com. He continued, saying, “It’s not necessary for us to come and talk about it because it’s not important to the Kotoko fraternity. We he not the one who wrote a letter to Nana Yaw that he can’t work with him any longer when he (Nana Yaw) was managing him? Didn’t he go to Dubai and return……he should not push us to disclose some issues of him, he should mind his own business for us to also do same”, he argued.
Nana Kwame further questioned whether Esme is not content with the fact that he played for Accra Hearts of Oak.
“In any case if some asks you to come and play for Kotoko, and you to to spend one week in Kumasi and Kotoko does not sign you, is that the making of the the manager who was managing you? Didn’t he get the opportunity to play for Hearts of Oak, or he is not content with the Hearts of Oak he played for? You have played for Hearts of so why don’t you be content with that, you didn’t get the opportunity to play for Kotoko, today Nana Yaw has become Kotoko CEO is now that you are coming to say things about Nana Yaw. When he was contesting for the Ghana Football Association President didn’t he (Esme) hear?”, he fumed.
For the records, Nana Yaw Amponsah was the manager of Esme Mends, and had a hand in his move to Accra Hearts of Oak after his move to Asante Kotoko had fallen through.
